International Week

Around the world in three days! Yes, that is what our Pre-k to 4th-grade students experienced this week.

In three days, each of our classrooms traveled through 10 different countries. Each grade level is assigned a continent, then each class is assigned a country from that continent. Each class then researched and found ways to teach other classes about their country. For the country of Mexico, students arrived at school dressed in traditional Mexican skirts and dresses. The class that researched England spoke with a British accent while they explained their culture.

A few of the classes had hands-on activities for visiting students. The 2nd grade taught the other grades about the lemur, then showed them how to draw one. First grade, who researched Morocco, taught the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades how to weave.  Pre-k and Kindergarten classes worked with clay to represent pottery.

As a keepsake, each of our students received a passport with their yearbook photo on the first page. Then as they traveled through the countries, they received a stamp from each country.
