This is Hesster. He is visiting KRCS Lower School Pre-First Class with his human friend Mr. Ernie. They visit about once a month so the students can read to him.

Mrs. Daniel, our Pre-Frist teacher, started this program to encourage her students to read more often. It seems to be working because the kids said they feel calm while reading to Hesster, "he's a good listener."

Hestter works for K9-Readers. He enjoys spending time in schools, senior living facilities, and libraries. Mr. Ernie drives Hesster to all his appointments around Atlanta. He also volunteers at K9-Readers, and gives Hesster a place to call home. The students are excited when Hesster comes to visit. His visits provide comfort, build self-esteem, and encourage the students to go home and read aloud to their pets.
